Does Eon Aligner treat all types of malocclusions?
Yes, Eon Aligner can treat various types of malocclusions including crowding, spacing, deep bite, crossbite, open bite, class II and class III. Also, severe skeletal discrepancies can be improved with aligners by either camouflaging the discrepancy, focusing on teeth alignment (only) or preparing the case for surgical intervention.
Should I choose a one week or two week wear cycle?
Literature and clinical trials (Al-Nadawi et al, 2021) have proven that a one week cycle is equally effective in achieving the desired treatment outcomes as a two week wear cycle. However, the final decision is up to the clinician’s evaluation of the patient’s periodontal status as well as the complexity of the case and tooth movements to be done.
What records do I need to submit to treat a case with Eon Aligner?
PVS impressions or intraoral scans with a bite registry, extra/intraoral photos, and a panoramic x-ray are preferred. They can be submitted to the patient’s profile on Eon Access.
What’s the importance of providing flawless impressions/intraoral scans?
High quality records are crucial to ensure optimal fitting of the aligners.
PVS impressions/intra-oral scans should be accurate with no voids or holes, and should capture all teeth in the arch extending to the distal surface of the very last tooth with their gingival margins.
Should I send records for both arches when I want to treat one arch only?
Yes, both arches are needed to confirm the patient’s bite and to provide them with a treatment plan that results in a stable bite at the end of the treatment.
Should I send intraoral scans or PVS impressions?
Both are accepted by Eon Aligner and are equally accurate. However, intraoral scans can be easier to take, more comfortable for patients, and are transferred faster.
What if I need support with a case?
Our clinical team will be there to support you with your cases and answer your queries through clinical support calls, or one-to-one training sessions like “how to perform IPR” and “bond attachments.” You’ll be offered an on-boarding call when you first start your Eon Aligner journey along with access to a comprehensive certification course.
What type of training materials are available at Eon Academy?
Eon Academy offers a comprehensive library consisting of multiple educational lectures, courses, and “how to” videos to help expand your clinical knowledge and develop your skills in clear aligner treatment.
Will my patient’s treatment plan include auxiliaries?
Treatment auxiliaries such as elastics and TADs are included in the treatment setup upon request. However, Eon’s treatment planning team generally advises you to add them to your treatment plans whenever necessary to increase the predictability of the treatment.
What are refinements?
Eon Aligner packages include extra refinement steps in case there are any improvements to be made after the patient finishes their treatment. Refinements are common as the response to orthodontic movements varies from one patient to another.
